Nightreach Saga
★★★★★ 4.5
Nightreach Saga is a proper role-playing game that somehow fits into a phone without feeling squeezed. You build a party of four, and the fun is in the synergies — a debuff here, a follow-up hit there, and suddenly a fight you were losing turns around in one turn.
The writing is better than it needs to be. Side characters have their own little arcs, and choices in dialogue sometimes shut off options later, which made me actually read instead of tapping through. Combat is turn-based with a timing element on skills, so you're never fully hands-off.
It's a longer commitment than most games we cover, and the inventory management gets fiddly. But if you want something with a real campaign to sink into on a commute, this is an easy recommendation.
What we liked
- Party synergies reward experimentation
- Writing and choices with real consequences
- Meaty campaign for longer sessions
